About RUN 4 BEIGEL
The RUN 4 BEIGEL 5K Run / Walk is an annual event established in 2018, following the shooting tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. A grief-stricken community mourned the lives of 17 individuals lost to gunfire that day and came together to run in honor of Coach Scott J. Beigel for saving the lives of his students, in place of his own. In the years following the tragedy, RUN 4 BEIGEL has become a worldwide event to raise funds in support of the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund.
Through fundraising and events like the RUN 4 BEIGEL, the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund is able to fulfill their purpose: to help send disadvantaged children touched by gun violence to summer sleep away camp. Through the generosity and support of you and so many others, we were able to send 165 at-risk kids to camp in Summer 2021. Now we're on a mission to more than double that number for Summer 2022. Thank you so much for being a part of our RUN 4 BEIGEL family and helping us change the world, one child at a time.

Scott and I were best friends for almost 30 years. Although his time on earth was senselessly cut short, I am thankful for the friendship we shared and the way his life continues to inspire me each and every day. He dedicated his entire life to advocating for children in the classroom, on the sports fields, and at summer camp. There are literally thousands of children and young adults who were positively impacted by their relationships with Scott. By signing up to Run 4 Beigel, you are honoring his legacy in the best way possible. Scott was a runner and a cross country coach, and he would be proud to know that people were putting in the miles in his name. More importantly, however, is the fact that the run will help to send underprivileged children to camp, which is an opportunity that Scott believed in so deeply, as do I.
