ABOUT

Our Race begins on the beautiful Peconic River in Riverhead NY! This is an excellent location for our two racecourses designed for all skill levels. The not-for-profit organization, The New York Marine Rescue Center, is hosting this fun-filled day of races to help them raise money to save the Sea Turtles.

Entry fee includes T-shirt & Refreshments
Medals will be given out to first place winners in each age category for each respective class and race distance.


BENEFITS

Please support the Paddle Battle Charities. Our mission is to raise money to save the Sea turtles by supporting The New York Marine Rescue Center. Your donation will go to preserve and protect the marine environment through conservation efforts including rescue, rehabilitation, education, and research. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, they are the primary responders for sick or injured seals, sea turtles, dolphins, porpoises and small toothed whales, and maintain the only marine mammal and sea turtle rehabilitation center in New York State.


CHECK-IN

7:00-8:30 (Tables at town docks, end of McDermott St. along riverside parking lot)
Check in to get your race bib and number, race info. etc.

Unloading - Arrive early to drop off your watercraft and park your vehicle at Riverhead town docks and parking area. We will be set up in the parking lot with ample space, along the riverside.

Riverhead Pre-Race - Estimated race start times will be given at check-in, depending on the number of registered paddlers in each respective class, will depend on when and which race we start and end with.

Announcements will be made for pre-race starts and a meeting to review rules, safety, race details, etc. You will load your watercraft at the town docks floating dock and paddle to the starting line to begin your race.

Sea Kayak - Any Kayak 18' & Under - 5 MILE
Unlimited Kayak - Any Kayak Over 18' - 5 MILE (Includes Surf Ski)

SUP - Over 12'6" - 2.5 MILE
SUP - 12' 6" & Under - 2.5 MILE

Recreational Class Kayak - Up to 16' - 5 MILE (Sit in/Sit on)
Recreational Class Kayak - Up to 16' - 2.5 MILE (Sit in/Sit on)

10:00AM
Casual Paddle - 2.5 MILE (All ages/any mix)
Mixed 2-Person Canoe/Kayak - up to 17' - 2.5 MILE (All ages/any mix)


COURSES

2.5 Mile Race (Click here for racecourse) - Recreational 
Race categories: Recreational kayak, Stand up paddleboards
Each category will go off separately.
This race is for fun and designed for the novice and less experienced paddler, but it’s still a race so bring your competitive spirit.
This distance is one lap around Colonel’s island and back to the start/finish line.
* We also have designed a 2.5-mile mixed doubles race for canoes and kayaks, any age group any mix {father son, mother daughters, you and your BFF} any way you want, but jump in and have some fun
Rentals for canoes and kayaks will be available for ($40.00 fee)

5 Mile Race (Click here for racecourse) - Competitive
Race Categories: Recreational kayak, Sea kayak, Unlimited kayaks, Stand up paddleboards
Each category will go off separately.
This race is designed for the serious competitive paddler.
This distance is two laps around the entire course, Colonels Island, and back to the start/finish line two times.


FEES

Singles/Any Category $65
Doubles/Any Category $130


GETTING YOUR BIB

Pick up your race packet at the pre-registration table beginning 7:30am
