Celebrate Five Years of Running in Jackson Heights!
What began as the inaugural Jackson Heights Mile has grown into something much bigger. In celebration of its 5th Anniversary, we're proud to introduce the Jackson Heights Running Festival.
This will be a full day of racing that welcomes runners of every age and ability, featuring multiple distances, relay events, and culminating with our signature Competitive and Community Mile at Noon, where neighbors, families, and runners from across Queens come together on one starting line.
NEW IN 2026! 5K AND 5K RELAY!
After years of gaining trust, working alongside city agencies and community partners, we've reached an exciting milestone.
For the first time ever, the NYPD has approved a 25-minute full closure of 34th Avenue, allowing us to host the first-ever 5K in Jackson Heights.
This historic addition is more than just a new race, it represents the next step in our long-term vision of establishing Jackson Heights as a premier destination for community running and open streets programming. While the inaugural event will operate under a strict 25-minute course closure, we hope a successful debut will demonstrate the demand for the event and pave the way for longer street closures, larger fields, and an expanded race experience in the years ahead.
To make the event accessible to runners of all abilities, we're also introducing a 5K Relay, where teams of five will work together by passing a baton and completing the course within the allotted time.
The 25 minute cutoff will be strictly enforced, as traffic must reopen immediately afterward, making this an exciting, and uniquely collaborative way to be part of the festival's newest tradition.
See you in Jackson Heights!
