The Montrose Kiwanis Club and Montrose Lions Club are proud sponsors of the annual Montrose PA July 4th Celebration. The daylong events include the Independence Day Races and all of the activities provide monies used by each club in support of their Community Service projects and programs. Listed below are some of those projects and programs that are funded by each club:
--Donate Scholarships and Community Service Awards at Montrose and Elk Lake and Blue Ridge High Schools.
--Sponsorship of student service clubs at Montrose, Elk Lake and Blue Ridge School Systems.
--Providing funding for Susquehanna County Library and United Fire Company new building programs. Financial support for Montrose Minutemen ambulance, Montrose Restoration Committee, Red Cross, Montrose Mobile Food Pantry and Susquehanna County Interfaith.
--Provide funding for restoration and upkeep of Montrose Memorial Park.
--Provide grants to Montrose Area High School and community non-profit organizations.
--Support Back to School Programs by providing haircuts and new backpacks for needy children.
--Purchase Turkeys for Tre-Hab’s Thanksgiving food program.
--Purchase Toys and food for Interfaith’s Christmas program.
--Conduct a Halloween parade and costume event for all area children.
