In consideration of accepting this entry, I understand and agree to be legally bound hereby for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, successors and waive, release and hold harmless JFK Runway 5K Run/Walk, elitefeats inc., and any volunteers and all race sponsors and their agents, employees and representatives for any and all injuries, claims, liabilities and causes of action related to my participation in this event. I attest that I am physically fit and have sufficiently trained for the completion of this event and that my condition has been verified by a licensed medical doctor. I further grant permission to any of the foregoing organizations to take and use photographs, video, and recordings or any other record of this event for any purpose whatsoever.

If signed by a parent, the parent agrees to release and hold the above-named organizations and persons harmless of any claims which may be asserted by or on behalf of the entrant as well.

ABOUT

The “Run on the Runway” race has become one of the major fundraisers for the JFK Rotary Club. The first race was run in April 1972. Until 2000 it was a 10K race which started at the Ramada Plaza JFK Hotel parking lot and to the runway and back to the hotel. Due to problems with traffic control on the public roads, the Port Authority requested we take part of the race off public roads and contain it to the runways. In 2002, it was decided to change it to a 5K race. It is a unique race as one of the active runways is actually closed to aircraft landing and taking off for a couple of hours or so. Airplanes are routed to land and take off from a secondary runway during the race. As a result of 9/11 and the Boston Marathon incident, security has become a major issue in planning the race. The Rotary Club works very closely with the airport authorities to ensure that the security programs in place are strictly adhered to. Find out more on their website by clicking here.

BIB SHIPPING

Shipping: Bibs will be shipped to the address you provided during the registration process.
DO NOT FORGET TO BRING YOUR BIB ON RACE MORNING.

Didn't get your bib yet? Please see the event staff starting one hour before the event start time if you lost your bib of if it was not delivered to you - YOU MUST SHOW PROOF OF REGISTRATION.

Last bus: Leaves for the starting line at 8:40 AM from Building 14. Address above.

  • Hurry; Register 3 weeks in advance to get a personalized Race Number!
  • You must know your bib number in order to pick up your bib. If you do not know your bib number there will be a Self Lookup area. 
  • If you register within 24 hours of bib pickup you will be texted your bib number within 90 seconds or click on Bib Lookup above.

COURSE

Run one of JFK's Runway! Flat, fast, closed out & back runway run.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • If you arrive to JFK by bus or airtrain, there will be a shuttle bus from Federal Circle to Building 14 starting @7:00AM.
  • There will be a security check.
  • Fannypacks & regular cameras are not allowed on the runway.
  • Smartphones are okay on the runway!
  • There will be a secure place for you to store your possessions.
  • NO STROLLERS ARE ALLOWED IN RACE (if you have a stroller you must leave it at Building 14).
