join us for the Inaugural MOMbies Mother’s Day 5K!

WHO (ON EARTH?) ARE THE MOMBIES? We are a monstrous and mostly friendly troupe of Mom Zombies who slink into formation on Halloween… to dance. Since 2016, we’ve been deeply committed to embarrassing our children, delighting our community and – most important – raising money for cutting edge research to end metastatic breast cancer. All funds we raise go to THE CANCER COUCH FOUNDATION, where every dollar is matched and directly supports research at Memorial Sloan Kettering. To date, with much gratitude for your support, we’ve helped raise over $380K! 

 WHO SHOULD REGISTER: Everyone! The course will open to men, women, children, ghosts and the other undead.

 WHERE: Jennings Beach, 880 South Benson Road, Fairfield, CT.
The course is flat and FAST, taking you through the lovely neighborhood of Fairfield Beach. Three water stations are set up on the racecourse. Streets are not closed to traffic, but volunteers and police will be on the course for the safety of our zombies, runners and walkers. Check out the 5K course HERE!

THE AFTERMATH: Hang around after you cross that Finish Line for some MOMbies fun and a wild all-are-welcome dance celebration!

FAQs

What to Wear?
You have choices! Come in your comfy 5K athletic attire. Or don lots of pink. Or you can outfit yourself like a genuine Zombie artifact and creep your way to the finish line, securing attention, admiration and maybe even a modeling contract. Or anything in between.  This is a family event so keep it clean. And if your limbs fall off, please find an appropriate trash receptacle.

Is it true the MOMbies have the best swag bags ever?
Duh.
Hurry! Complete swag bags limited to the first 475 to register.

Will there be prizes?
You bet! The first-place male and female will receive a pair of running shoes thanks to our friends at ASF Westport. Top 3 M/F by age groups (9 & Under, 10-13, 14-18, 19- 29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+) will win incredible MOMbies merch. Top three winners in the kids’ age group (13 and under) will receive gifts provided by Saugatuck Sweets!  

Because we’re MOMbies, there will also be a prize for best costume, and a special, special prize for the individual who comes in DEAD LAST. We might have some random awards too. We’re spontaneous like that. *One prize per person.

What’s the TIMELINE?
9am: 5K START All runners & walkers lace up sneakers for this dash of the undead

9:45am: Brief moment of fame and pics with overall fastest SPEED DEMONS. Age group prizes will be dished out at the awards table near the finish line shortly after the results roll in.

10:10am: Brace yourself for the Ghoulish Gift Giveaway unveiling! For $5 (Venmo/cash only) you can enter to win: two round-trip tix on Avelo Airlines (no blackout dates); earrings; or a gorgeous necklace from our favorite jewelry designer Kendra Scott. Since there’s no limit on entries, and every dollar goes to breast cancer research, maybe bring a stack of fivers. Just an idea.

10:15am: And when the music kicks in, let loose with the Mombies dance, then groove along with DJ Rob and Press Play Motivation, because the dance floor opens to all!

Where do I park?
Complimentary Parking is located onsite at Jennings Beach 880 South Benson Road, Fairfield CT 06824. Parking also available at Ash Creek Open Space Parking Lot (471 Turney Road, Fairfield CT 06824), just a short walk to the Start area at Jennings. Arrive early! We expect parking lots to fill! 

Is there a bag check?
There is no bag check, and we are not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen bags or items left anywhere at the event.

Merch?
 Yes! Mombies hats and tumblers for sale with all proceeds going to breast cancer research. Cash/Venmo only.

Are strollers permitted?
Strollers are permitted. As a group of moms, we are committed to making this an event for the whole family. But please be mindful of runners. 

Dogs?
Nope. We adore furry friends: but please, if it has a tail, leave it at home for everyone’s safety.

When can I get my bib?
To minimize race day frenzy, you’re encouraged to get your bib at the (amazing!) Elicit Brewing Company on Thursday, May 9 or Friday May 10 from 5:30pm – 7:30pm. Elicit is located at 111 Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield. Definitely hang around for a drink and nosh!

RACE DAY PICK UP: Registered runners can also pick up bibs at 7:30am at the registration table at Jennings Beach parking lot. You must know your bib number in order to pick up your bib. If you do not know your bib number, there will be a Self-Lookup area.

RACE DAY REGISTRATION: If spots are available, race registration will open at 7:30am. T-shirts will be subject to availability for same day registrants.

IMPORTANT: Register three weeks in advance to get a personalized bib! If you register more than 24 hours in advance, your bib number will be texted or emailed to you at least 2 hours prior to bib pickup. If you register within 24 hours of bib pickup, please bring your confirmation email in order to be assigned a bib.

Is it rain or shine?
Yes! Our event will be held rain or shine. Zombies aren’t particular about weather patterns.

Did someone say food?
Look, we’re zombies. We eat eyeballs and brains and other tidbits. But our 5K participants? You’ll be treated to the best post-race food & drink around. Forget about an unripe banana and stale bagel. That’s just NOT how we roll.

Restrooms? We will have port-a-potties at the Start/Finish but NO potties on the course itself. Ahem.

What is your refund policy?
Due to the fundraising nature of this event, we are unable to offer refunds.

I cannot attend but would like to make a donation. How can I do that?

When does registration close?
