Remembering Neil Chadderton
Anyone who may not have known him certainly may have recognized his smiling face at a race. Neil was the perfect gentleman who was always willing to participate in a group run, walk, or bike, or even at a race or as a volunteer. He first came onto the running scene in 2014 when he joined both the North Country Road Warriors, a club where he also served on its governing board as director and vice president. He was also a member of the Selden Hills Warriors, the Greater Long Island Running Club, and the New York Road Runners Club. He ran all race distances from 5K thru marathons with his finest hours being the New York City and Berlin Marathons. Neil also delved into triathlons. His friendly disposition actually encouraged others to join him on group trips to NYC races as they enjoyed his jovial personality.
Sadly, just weeks short of his 60th birthday, Neil passed away but left friends in the running community some great memories with him. His wife Jean, who is an avid walker and a big part of the Selden Hills walking group is honored that the Greater Long Island Running Club has designated this event as an annual event in memory of Neil Chadderton.
